As a commercial construction company, Imperial Design Builders offers a diverse set of services including pre-construction, design, and building services. Last year, the Imperial team completed over 75 projects from 5,000 to 45,000 square feet.

Founded in 2002 and located in Fuquay Varina, Imperial serves the local community as well as clients throughout North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. As locals, the team feels a heightened commitment to the long-term success and happiness of our neighbor clients. In 2002, after twelve years of working his way up from laborer to project manager, John had enough courage to start his own company. Imperial Design Builders began as a two-man operation, but today the Imperial team has completed hundreds of commercial construction projects. Imperial continues to make a name for itself as a fair, honest, and transparent company with a knack for giving back to the community. The local community is important to John because he grew up in a suburb of Raleigh and has always considered North Carolina his home. Now, after over 40 years, he knows his way around both the community and the construction business. As CEO, he believes that the best leaders surround themselves with the best people. John trusts his team explicitly and knows how valuable they are to both his company and his clients. When John is not working you can find him enjoying time with his wife and family, boating, saltwater fishing, and spending time in Oriental, NC.


Macon Auton

A 1992 graduate of Clayton High School, Macon’s 21 years of construction experience began in 1989 as a laborer working with his brother building houses, remodeling, and doing light commercial jobs. He gained a subcontractor’s perspective while working in restaurant renovations and commercial construction, primarily interior metal and wood stud installation drywall applications, in-turn helped him with on-site supervision of Imperial Design Builders projects.

Casey has spent the last 14 years in different sectors of the commercial real estate industry. From Commercial Site Development, Management and Accounting, Casey has always had a passion for the industry and is consistently growing her knowledge base. Her diverse industry knowledge gives Imperial Design Builders an advantage to benefit a wide variety of clients.

Meredith a degree in Business Management & Organizational Development, and has been studying in preparation of sitting for her CPA license. She has worked in the construction/architectural fields for 10 years. Her experience in construction and business will help clients plan for their projects.

Mike began his career in construction over 15 years ago as a consultant for one of the major self-storage building suppliers in the Southeast. In his role as a self-storage consultant he worked with self-storage owners, contractors, real estate developers, civil engineers and architects to develop site plans, layouts, unit mixes and building designs. As VP of Sales and Business Development he will add to their already strong knowledge of the self-storage industry and construction.

Nathan has worked in construction industry for over 47 years. His knowledge of estimating comes from years of understanding the process and understanding that it is still a relationship driven industry. Nathan works with clients to make sure they understand what it will take to complete a quality project everyone can be proud of in the end. His expertise in building codes, requirements, and licensing gives Nathan an advantage that keeps transparency in everything they do.



Clayton Bogard

Clayton is responsible for total project management including controlling budgets, negotiating subcontracts, and providing day-to-day communication with the project team to ensure jobs remain on schedule and within budget. A team player, Clayton holds an excellent track record of strong working relationships with owners, architects, and engineers, resulting in successful construction experiences.

Clayton has over 25 years' experience overseeing all phases of multi-million-dollar construction projects, including higher education, restaurant, multi-family pharmaceutical, tenant improvements and retail projects.

Clayton also has a broad background in construction contract scenarios, including design-build, guaranteed maximum price (GMP), cost plus fixed fee, and hard bid. throughout his career.
